IntroductionDiscover the staggering beauty of Denali National Park from the comfort of a ski equipped craft. Fly between McKinley's two sister peaks and look out for climbers en route to the summit. This is the best way to see one of the worlds great wilderness frontiers! Fly over the longest glacier in Denali National Park, the 45 mile (72km) long Kahiltna glacier and see where climbers begin their ascent of McKinley. As you approach the climber base camp, you'll fly between McKinley's two sister peaks: Mt. Hunter at 14,500 feet (4,420 meters) and Mt. Foraker at 17,400 feet (5,300 meters). The famed West Buttress will be full in your view and you may see climbers en route to the summit who have come from all over the world to challenge the mountains of the Alaska Range. Your flightseeing trip begins at the unique hexagonal log building in Talkeetna, a small Alaskan town big on character and rich in history located about 115 miles (185km) north of Anchorage. After meeting your pilot/guide, you'll be seated comfortably in one of the ski-equipped aircrafts and provided with voice activated headphones which allows conversation between passengers and pilot. Everyone has a window seat. As you set out to the mountains, your pilot will describe the history and geology of the area and point out gold mining areas and wildlife.
